This tool allows you to efficiently rename materials in your Maya scene with powerful options for batch processing, search & replace, and flexible naming conventions.
=== HOW TO USE ===
1. REFRESH MATERIALS
• Click 'Refresh List' to load all materials from your scene
• Materials are automatically filtered (excludes default Maya materials)
2. SELECT MATERIALS
• Click on materials in the list to select them
• Hold Ctrl/Cmd for multi-selection
• Use Shift for range selection
3. RENAMING OPTIONS
PREFIX & SUFFIX:
• Prefix: Adds text before the material name (e.g., "M_materialName")
• Suffix: Adds text after the material name (e.g., "materialName_01")
NEW NAME:
• Replaces the entire base name of selected materials
• Leave empty to keep original names
SEARCH & REPLACE:
• Find: Text to search for in material names
• Replace: Text to replace it with
• Case Sensitive: Match exact capitalization
• Whole Words: Match complete words only
• Click 'Find' to auto-select materials containing the search text
4. PREVIEW CHANGES
• Live preview updates as you type
• Shows exactly what the new names will be
• Click 'Preview Changes' for manual refresh
5. APPLY CHANGES
• Click 'Rename Materials' to apply all changes
• Confirmation dialog shows before applying
• Automatically prevents naming conflicts
