Maya UDIM Converter

This script automatically converts file texture nodes in Maya from regular UV tiling mode to UDIM (U-Dimensional) tiling mode, which is useful for high-resolution texturing workflows where you need multiple texture tiles.

What It Does Step-by-Step1. Selection Analysis
  • Checks what you have selected in Maya
  • Looks for file texture nodes directly, or finds them connected to selected materials/shading groups
  • If you select a material, it automatically finds all file textures connected to that material
2. Smart Detection
  • If you select file texture nodes directly → converts those
  • If you select nothing useful → asks if you want to convert ALL file textures in the scene
3. UDIM Conversion
  • Changes each file texture's uvTilingMode attribute from whatever it was to 3 (which is UDIM mode)
  • This is the same as manually going to each texture's attributes and changing "UV Tiling Mode" from "Off" to "UDIM (Mari)"
